36th Ragbrai Comes to Town 2008

A little off the beaten path lies a town of around 600 residents who geared up for serving smiles, gatorade, and a resting place. Our Friends of the Library stand was no exception....we called it Giggling Girls with Gatorade. We served 75 dozen cookies, 1,464 Gatorades, a case of apples and 3/4 case of oranges....and alot of bananas. Of coarse, the SMILES were FREE. The participants of Ragbrai were fabulous and friendly, with all ages riding. It was a great opportunity to meet people, share stories, and help raise funds for our "DREAM LIBRARY". Alot of the riders exchanged necklaces and fun things to different people.....Misty scored a "must have" banana necklace. It was 12 hours of smiles and sweat, but worth every rider we met. Hats off to those who made the effort to come into our small rural town.
Down at Papa John's

While taking Corey & Kylie home, we celebrated July birthdays. Madison
was 2 this year and kicked off the birthday celebration on saturday at her house. Then on Sunday we celebrated Drew & Jaden. Papa John was trying to get the tractors ready to go to fair, but they just didn't want to cooperate this year. Jaden, disappointed, but happy to be able to sit on them. It seems to be the simple joys of life for them. Well, it was sad to see Corey and Kylie go home, but I always say, "if you don't say good-bye, you can't say hello again". The road always seems to be longer going home.

The Candyland Cake is Dazzling
H a p p y B i r t h d a y DREW!
It doesn't get any better than this...

Drew left his birthday cake theme up to his cousin Kylie. She picked out an amazing candy loaded birthday theme...CANDYLAND. It was very fun watching it all come together and it was definately a hit with his cousins. There was NO SHORTAGE of favorite pieces to eat. Some liked Candy Cane Forest, or Molasses Chocolate Swamp, and even Lollipop Lane. It really didn't matter what piece you got, but it was celebrating Drew's life that was the sweetest piece for me.

The Fair is Definately Full of Laughs
Here A Chick, There A Chick....
Drew celebrates 12

Hard to believe the firstborn is 12. Wow! What a blessing it is to celebrate life. Drew is such a blessing to us. We are so proud of him. Today, Drew has been living 4,380 days! Isn't it amazing? We think so. The gifts of Legos will come and go, but the treasures he gives us will last our lifetime. Children are a gift from God.
